Our Impact

At our first event in 2010 we had 8 bike riders and earned approximately $2300.  Some of the initial funds were used to pay for a memorial painting that is now displayed at the Adair County Memorial Hospital in honor of my mother, Barbara L. Smith.  Serenity Farm was painted by artist Zack Jones of Malvern, IA. Click here to see a behind the scenes look at Serenity Farm being created.  The remaining funds were donated directly to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) to help fund research.

At our 2nd event in 2011 we had over 60 riders and we raised over $10,000.  All funds were donated to HDSA to help fund research.

In 2012 at our 3rd event we had well over 100 walkers, runners and riders and we raised $27,000 which far surpassed our goal.

In 2013, year 4, we doubled our participation with over 200 walkers, runners, riders and golfers.  Our earnings were approximately $18,000.

In 2014, year 5, we had well over 200 walkers, runners, riders and golfers. Our earnings were over $32,050.

In 2015 we crossed over the $100,000 lifetime amount raised for Bar2Barbara.

I am overwhelmed and speechless by the outpouring of compassion, love, and determination of all involved. Thank you so much! We will continue the battle for a cure for this monstrous disease!
